If you're like me, you've probably been wondering how you would determine your skin type. Knowing your skin type is the most important step to understand in caring for your skin. Your skin is your body's largest organ and it is as complex and intelligent as any other vital organ. Knowing your skin type will help you choose the right options that will balance your skin resulting in a healthier, radiant complexion. Skin type is more of a spectrum than a group and everyone's skin falls somewhere on the spectrum of either normal, dry, oily, combination or sensitive skin. Every persons skin is unique and skin type can change throughout the years                                                            GUIDE TO SKIN TYPE OILY SKIN: You know you  have oily skin if your skin constantly looks greasy and shiny within hours of cleansing. oily skin has large pores and is prone to acne and breakouts, this is due the excess sebum (natural oil produced by your skin which helps

10 Skin Care Mistakes To Avoid

#Using harsh cleansers
A lot of people do this and I'm guilty of it too. Just because you have an oily skin doesn't mean you should strip your skin of all it's oil. Any cleanser that dries out your skin is harsh. If your skin feels dry or flaky after cleansing then that cleanser is bad for your skin type. Harsh cleansers strip the face of it's natural oil and the face tries to overcompensate by producing even more oil which can clog your pores and cause acne

#Skipping sunscreen

Because you can spend a full day outside without getting a sunburn doesn't mean you don't need a sunscreen. Prolonged unprotected exposure to the sun harmful UVA and UVB rays can cause some serious damage no matter your skin type or color. Wrinkles, dark spots and even cancer. Sunscreen is your best friend!

#Over exfoliating
This is one of the biggest mistake people often make. Your skin should be exfoliated only once or twice a week. Over exfoliating will cause irritation and peeling off the skin, it causes inflammation, breakouts especially small pimples and increased sensitivity to other products in your routine

#Not moisturizing

Dry and dull skin! Yes that's what you will get if you don't moisturize, without moisturizer your skin will start flaking and dry out, dry skin makes fine lines more visible. Dryness worsens acne, and makes your make up look cakey. Dry skin makes your face feel tight and itchy. Need I say more? My point is, skipping moisturizer is a no no no!

#Not removing make up before bed

Our skin renews itself while we sleep and when we leave our make up on we prevent that from happening. Your pores will get clogged and your skin will cease to breathe, you will wake up with a puffy eyes and a generally aggravated skin

#Using way too many products
You know what they say: too much of a good thing.... yeah right. And some of you are thinking if little is good then more is better, you're right, but not when it comes to skin care, hear me out! All it takes is the wrong combination of ingredients to make your skin go haywire. Certain ingredients in different skin care products could have an interaction and irritate your skin. That is why it is so important to simplify your skin care routine, when it comes to skin care, less is really more.

#Washing your face with hot water
Heat from hot water causes major damage to our delicate pores and strip the skin off it oils. The best water temperature is warm. Cold water doesn't effectively remove grime while hot water irritates and dry out skin

#Rubbing your skin
Pat your skin dry after cleansing rather than rubbing it. The constant tugging of your skin by towel can lead to sagging.

#Not checking your ingredients
To be honest deciphering which ingredient to avoid is tough especially as pronouncing the names are so difficult. One of the most common ingredients to avoid is parabens, they have been linked to breast cancer and also act as hormone disruptor

#Not washing your pillowcase

Your pillowcase has build up of oils, dirt and sweat from daily use. They harbor bacteria that can cause damage to your skin. Wash your pillowcase every few days
